Auriculotherapy includes acupuncture, electrical stimulation, and pressure to the ear. It is therapy of the auricula, (the external ear, earlobe) and used to treat health conditions in all parts of the body through stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively.
Auriculotherapy has a long history in ancient Chinese Medicine and modern Auriculotherapy, using electrical stimulation, has roots from as long back as 1957.
Auriculotherapy is a micro-system of acupuncture. So, every anatomical structure in every system of the body has a corresponding meridian and reflex point on the surface of the ear. The micro parts mirror the whole. And can be broken down to genetic coding.
Auriculotherapy is the only direct micro-system used for diagnosis and treatment. Iridology is also a direct micro-system, used only for diagnosis. All other microsystems, such as foot Reflexology and Acupuncture, are indirect.
How does Auriculotherapy work?
Auriculotherapy types applied are:-
- Ear acupuncture is applied to stimulate blocked meridians. The needles are little thicker than a hair,
- Pressure is applied with seeds to stimulate reflex points and meridians.
A stimulator is run around the surface of the ear (like a metal detector) to search for active reflex points.
The meridians and reflex points are stimulated. Sending messages to the brain. This assists in bringing balance, or harmonising the associated body functions and feelings. During treatment, most people feel little more than a tiny tingling at the ear.
Imagine your brain as a computer. Inside this computer is a map of the entire body. This map projects onto the ear through the body’s nervous system. Making the ear like a computer screen display. Accessing the points on the ear is akin to using a computers keyboard to gain entrance into the system. Practitioners are able to directly detect and treat a number of physiological imbalances through the brain’s computer.
What can Auriculotherapy treat?
The World Health Organization (WHO), announced in 1990, that Auricular therapy is “probably the most developed and best documented, scientifically, of all the “micro-systems” of acupuncture and is the most practical and widely used.” It recognizes Auricular therapy as being able to help with around 150 different health conditions.
